Gastroenterology Procedures
Accurate assessment of your condition may require specialized testing with laboratory, X-ray or endoscopic studies.
Endoscopic studies or special "scope" tests of the digestive tract include gastroscopy, which is used to check the upper digestive tract; and colonoscopy, which is used to check the colon and the rectum.
We also offer a new technique, wireless capsule endoscopy, which can help us diagnose problems not detected by conventional studies. During this test, the patient swallows a tiny video capsule that can transmit thousands of color images as it moves through the digestive tract. Ask us about this procedure on your next visit.
Please note that not all tests are covered by your health insurance provider. Please check with your carrier if you have any questions.
